Golden Spatula

Since 1982, the KNCV has awarded the Golden Spatula to the best chemistry graduation thesis in higher professional education each year. During an official ceremony, the winner receives a ‘Golden Spatula’ and a cash prize of €1,000. If there are enough high-quality entries, two second prizes of €250 may be awarded.

This prize is made possible in part by the Municipality of Oss.

Nominations

Candidates can only be nominated for this award by their supervisor. The bachelor's thesis must describe research in the field of chemistry, life sciences, process technology, or (bio)molecular sciences and must have been carried out as part of a program at a Dutch university of applied sciences. The subject of the report may concern both practical/problem-solving and scientific research. Non-Dutch nationals are also eligible for the award. A jury appointed by the KNCV will assess the nominated bachelor's thesis and the candidates.

Candidates do not need to have completed their studies, only the report must be completed. Nominations can be made by sending the following:

By email

  • Digital version of the report
  • A brief statement from the supervisor(s) explaining why the student in question is eligible for the award (importance and quality of the research and independence of the candidate)
  • CV and contact details of the candidate (email address and telephone number)

These digital documents can be sent to kncv@kncv.nl.

All reports will, of course, be treated confidentially. You will be notified as soon as we have received your nomination.
