The Royal Netherlands Chemical Society (KNCV) attaches great importance to the protection of your personal data.
In this privacy statement, we explain how we handle your personal data, why we collect this data, and what we do with it. We believe it is important that your data is handled with care and ensure that the personal information you provide to us is treated confidentially.

Processing of personal data of KNCV members.
Personal data of members is processed by the KNCV for the following purposes:

Administrative purposes;

Communication about your membership of the KNCV;

Sending our newsletter and the C2W magazine.
The basis for this personal data is:

Membership of the KNCV and/or its sections.
For the above purpose(s), the KNCV may request the following personal data from you:
- Title;
- First name;
- Last name;
- (Business) Telephone number;
- (Business) Email address;
- Gender;
- Address and place of residence;
- Date of birth (for determining membership fees);
- Employed by organization;
- Bank account number (for automatic deduction of membership fees).
Your personal data will be stored by the KNCV for the purposes of the above processing for the period:

During the term of membership of the KNCV and/or its sections and thereafter only in the financial records for a maximum of 10 years.
Communication
When you send us emails or other messages, these are recorded in our systems and stored in accordance with the statutory retention obligation. Sometimes we ask you for personal data that is relevant to the situation in question. This enables us to process your questions and respond to your requests.
Newsletter
Users can sign up for the KNCV Newsletter, which we use to inform interested parties about relevant developments. Your email address will be added to the list of subscribers with your explicit consent. Each newsletter contains a link that allows you to unsubscribe. The newsletter subscriber database will not be shared with third parties.
Cookies
Cookies are small pieces of information stored by your browser on your computer. This website uses functional cookies that are necessary for the website to function properly. We also use cookies to analyze the use of the website and improve its user-friendliness.
Events and meetings
During events and meetings organized by the KNCV, photos and/or video recordings may be made. These photos or videos may be published on kncv.nl, other KNCV websites, or social media. By attending an event, you consent to photos or videos being taken and published on the website and social media.
Social media and links to other websites
The website includes buttons that allow you to follow the KNCV on social media. These buttons are created using code provided by the various social media companies themselves. Provision to third parties
We may provide the data you give us to third parties if this is necessary for the purposes described above.

Retention period
The KNCV does not retain personal data longer than necessary for the purpose for which it was provided or as required by law.

We have taken appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data against unlawful processing. For example, we have taken the following measures:
- All persons who may access your data on behalf of the KNCV are bound to confidentiality;
- We apply a username and password policy on all our systems;
- We make backups of personal data so that it can be restored in the event of physical or technical incidents;
- We regularly test and evaluate our measures;
- Our employees are informed about the importance of protecting personal data.
Rights regarding your data
You have the right to access, rectify, or delete the personal data we have received from you. You can also object to the processing of your personal data (or part thereof) by us or by one of our processors.
Complaints
If you have a complaint about the processing of your personal data, please contact us directly. If we are unable to resolve the issue with you, we will of course be very sorry. You always have the right to submit a complaint to the Dutch Data Protection Authority, which is the supervisory authority in the field of privacy protection.
