Jan-Willem Toering
Jan-Willem Toering is the director of the Royal Netherlands Chemical Society (KNCV).
After studying Law (Utrecht University) and Business Administration (RU), he held various positions at BASF. From 2000 to 2004, he served on the KNCV board. "Our society has a strong following of chemists who are involved in the development of new materials, new medicines, and new molecules. Innovations that capture the imagination. It's important that these stories are heard. Of course, the KNCV still connects people with similar backgrounds and interests, but we also explicitly focus on raising the profile of chemistry and chemists—and by chemists, I also mean life scientists and process technologists. I believe we need to showcase this across the board, so that there's a greater understanding and amazement about chemistry and so that we can inspire the next generation to take over."
Jan-Willem is married and has two sons.
