Dr. Peter Molenveld

My name is Peter Molenveld and I trained as an organic chemist at Enschede University of Applied Sciences and Radboud University. I subsequently completed my PhD research at the University of Twente in supramolecular chemistry, including synthesis, catalysis, and bioorganic chemistry. Since 1999, I have worked at Symeres Nijmegen (formerly Mercachem), where I have led the Synthetic Chemistry department for many years as Director of Chemistry. I am a member of the Organic Chemistry and Medicinal Chemistry & Chemical Biology (MCCB) sections and served as secretary of the MCBB from 2012 to 2021. In that role, I have participated in various KNCV activities and represented the Netherlands as a council member of the European Federation for Medicinal Chemistry (2015-2019). For the past two years, I served on the sponsorship committee for the IUPAC/CHAINS 2023 symposium.

I live with my wife and two sons in Oosterhout, near Nijmegen. Besides work, I was active as a youth team leader and am still a board member of a sports club. I also enjoy spending time at home and in the garden, enjoying nature, cycling/mountain biking, and the gym.

As KNCV secretary, I look forward to working with the KNCV board, the KNCV office, and all sections.
