Golden Flame 2023

Winner of the Golden Flame Award 2023

Luka Scholtens

The jury was impressed by Luka's report. He validated a determination method on the LC-MS for a component that cannot be named. The report was well written, with clear graphs and figures that explained the research clearly.

Luka presented his research to the jury in an enthusiastic and clear manner. It was striking that he was able to offer a great deal of depth, even on questions that were actually outside the scope of his research.

The jury had a difficult task this year. The quality of all three finalists was very high. While one candidate was stronger in reporting, another was stronger in presenting.

The infectious enthusiasm and broad knowledge of the subject, combined with a high level of reporting, convinced the jury to nominate Luka as the winner.

The second prizes were awarded to:

  • Amber Abbingh, ROC Noordepoort Groningen
    From RWZI to Bio-ethanol,
  • Daphne Penterman, ROC van Twente
