Golden Flame 2020

Winner of the Golden Flame Award 2020

Benzjie Kamphuis

Optimization of IVR testing for long-acting injectable medicine. Mapping of the incubator at 45.0°C using accelerated IVR testing, ROC van Twente.

The Golden Flame jury nominated Benzjie Kamphuis' report, written for her graduation research as a chemical physical analyst at Nanomi B.V. in Oldenzaal, for the Golden Flame 2020.

According to her internship supervisor, Benzjie clearly presented the research she had been working on for five months in her report. She independently elaborated the complex data in clear presentations, demonstrating good research skills and accurate data processing.

The report, written in English, was clear and concise. It guided the reader step by step through the research and the choices made, making it a pleasure to read.

During the presentation, she also took the jury through the research process with a clear story. She had set up most of the research herself. She was given the freedom to make her own choices in determining reference points and the number of samples to be measured. Ultimately, this led to a clear conclusion with clear recommendations for follow-up research that the company can use to move forward.

The jury did not have an easy task this year: the difference in quality between the candidates was very small. The combination of a good report, a clear presentation, and a high degree of independence in the research was the deciding factor for the jury in nominating Benzjie as the winner.

The other two prizes were awarded to:
