Work experience

After Philips, I worked as an auditor at Lloyd's Register for nine years. There, I learned about the many different types of jobs that exist and what they entail. That helps me a lot as a career coach and leadership coach. I can also imagine that some people burn out because organizations sometimes demand a lot.

I knew that I wanted to become a career coach in the long term, so I started studying psychology in the evenings. In 2002, I resigned from Lloyd's Register and founded Tacoma Coaching. I started as a career coach and when I graduated as a psychologist in 2007, I also became a personal coach.

Because I miss studying, I started doing doctoral research on leadership and vulnerability at Erasmus University Rotterdam. My experience as an auditor helps with this, and I have now interviewed twelve CEOs, laying the foundation for scientific articles.

• 1985-1993: chemist at Philips in Eindhoven, R&D resistors and integrated circuits
• 1993-2002: auditor for quality (ISO 9001) and safety (VCA) at Lloyd's Register in Rotterdam, auditing more than 300 organizations
• Since 2002: coach at Tacoma Coaching, leadership coaching, personal coaching, career coaching, burnout counseling, and outplacement
• Since 2014: PhD research into leadership and vulnerability at Erasmus University Rotterdam
