The IPCC on CO2: the scientific and political state of affairs regarding climate change
Summary
The reports of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change invariably make global headlines. In this lecture, Heleen de Coninck, who has been contributing to IPCC reports for over twenty years, explains how these reports are produced and how the balance is struck between climate science and climate policy.
She will discuss the key findings, focusing on the benefits and challenges of CO2 removal. Drawing on Dutch and European climate policy and the recommendations of the Scientific Climate Council, she will also examine the implications of climate transitions for the Netherlands.
