DCS activities 2024

With this newsletter, we would like to draw your attention to the upcoming deadlines for the DCS MSc Poster awards and the Netherlands Catalysis and Chemistry award that will be conferred during the 25th Anniversary edition of N3C.

The celebration of the N3C anniversary in 2024 would be a special celebration for the Dutch catalysis community. And for that reason, we would like to ask for your input. Please read further for more information.

We want to wish you all a very happy holiday season and a peaceful and fruitful New Year.

On behalf of the DCS Board,

Prof. Dr. Moniek Tromp (Chair Dutch Catalysis Society)

Dr. Ir. Hirsa Torres Galvis (Vice-chair DCS)

XXV NCCC 2024

In March 2024, the 25th edition of The Netherlands' Catalysis and Chemistry Conference, NCCC, will take place. We want to celebrate together and festive events are in preparation. As this is a great opportunity to celebrate for the whole Dutch catalysis community, we would like to request for your input as well. Does anyone have pictures or nice stories related to NCCC history and developments and events in the Dutch catalysis community in the last 25 years? Please send these before the end of January 2024 to Moniek Tromp (moniek.tromp@rug.nl).

Any ideas that you may have to contribute to the celebration are more than welcome.

For Principle Investigators based in the Netherlands and Belgium

As in previous years, the Dutch Catalysis Society (DCS), in collaboration with the NCCC organization, offers ten master students the opportunity to attend N3C and present a poster about their graduation research. Selection criteria, next to excellent science, are (i) that the topic is related to catalysis and (ii) that the student is or will become a member of DCS. Membership for students under 24 years has no fee.

To be eligible for the DCS MSc Poster Awards, the student must submit an abstract to  dutchcatsoc@gmail.com. The abstract has the same format as required for N3C (See Poster abstracts).

The deadline for applications to the DCS MSc Poster Awards is Friday January 12th 2024. We will contact the students on Monday January 15th 2024. If there are many submissions, the DCS board will make a selection. Not selected abstracts can still be submitted until February 7th to N3C via the website

We hope to receive many applications.DCSlogo-180

Netherlands Catalysis and Chemistry Award 2024

In 2024, the Netherlands Catalysis and Chemistry Award (NCCA) will be awarded again. The NCCA recognizes and encourages significant achievements of individuals in fundamental and applied catalysis. The award consists of a certificate and a prize of € 10,000. The selection will be based on accomplishments and contributions made within the last 10 years. Deadline for nominations is January 22nd 2024.

The award is sponsored by the Netherlands Organization of Catalysis Industries (VIRAN) and administered by the Dutch Catalysis Society (DCS). The nomination requirements can be found on the DCS website. Previous recipients are Prof. Dr. Marc Koper, Prof. Dr. Bert Weckhuysen, and Prof. Dr. Ben Feringa.
